Feature: T and K Wedding

Taylor and Krista’s wedding was an honour to photograph.  They’re super fun and chill…and their wedding party was pretty cool too 😉

That moment when a groom first sees his bride is always priceless

Krista is a farrier, so when we were choosing a location and the option of a barn with horses came up…I knew it would be fantastic! It was!  The horses seemed to enjoy the bride and groom too.

In Canada, you can’t really have a summer wedding without a stop for ice capps from Tim Horton’s

Romantic paths with dappled light are always a plus!

I loved the exquisite details of buttons and lace on Krista’s dress

I wish them only the best as they begin the exciting adventure called marriage!

Those days…

Those days when you come across a picture.

A picture of people.  Of good friends.

It brings back memories.

Maybe you’re even in the picture.

It makes you miss the people who are in it because they’re far away.

You know it’s going to be a long while before you see them again.

That’s when you smile…and are thankful for such awesome people you’re able to call friend and for all the great memories and for all the time you have been given in the past.

So here’s to good times and good friends…the ones who are close and the ones who are far away!

Stylistic Portrait: MJ

Here’s a portrait of my friend, MJ.  He was my fellow intern in Colorado…and piles of fun! 🙂  It was really fun to hang out with him because our photographic styles are different (you should see what he can do with a flash…or two…or five!) …I so enjoyed his perspective and ideas.  Definitely came away from that week with new inspiration!

Oh yeah…he likes hats too – How cool is that, eh?!

P.s. Sorry again for my “lack-of-blogging”- life has been super crazy! (which makes me 😀 and 😦 haha!) Anyways, check back soon (like tomorrow or the day after! 😉 ) I’ll be posting my most recent family shoot as well as the wedding I photographed a couple weekends ago – soon!

Feature: A Sister Session

Meet Mel and Mikey. 🙂

I guess it’s kind of obvious, but they’re sisters. 🙂 I was simply delighted when Mel asked me if I would do a “sister session” of them.

Our locations were the Japanese gardens in downtown Kelowna after which we walked down to City Park and finished up there.  It was 30 degrees (86 degrees if you’re American 😉 ) or more the entire time (also add in a little smoke from various forest fires to lock down that heat). It was definitely a hot one…But Mel and Mickey were awesome…like the whole time! 😀

We started around 6:30 which got us some great evening sunlight. 🙂 Sister’s are downright fun, especially with these two! They both have a great sense of humour so getting them to smile was never a challenge.

I’ve known Mel for a long time. A long time fits in this case because…I’ve actually known her my entire life. I can’t say that about many people around my age. 🙂 We’ve grown up attending the same church which means birthday invitations or even a couple camping trips also happened….and various shopping trips of course! 😉

When we got a little older it meant helping organize youth banquets and various other “youth activities”. (note: I helped…Mel organized!) Mel is one of most reliable people I know, and she’s always been there (especially when I’ve needed something!) Always willing to help. To be there early. To answer questions. To serve others. Mel, thanks for everything…your friendship means a lot to me.

Mickey… well, obviously I haven’t known her as long as her sister because she’s younger! 🙂 But, I remember her as an adorable toddler with thick dark brown curls.  It’s been amazing to observe the beautiful young woman she’s grown into. Like her older sister, Mickey is loyal, especially to her friends. She cares about them and is thoughtful of others. Her laughter is contagious…and I always know where to go if I want a hug. 🙂

As I’ve mentioned in other posts in my blog… having a sister is like having a live-in-best-friend. I believe it’s true for these gals as well.

I mean…who wouldn’t want someone to go shopping with…anytime? Or basically having another whole closet of clothes in the house?

Or having someone available to chat…all the time? Someone to laugh with or to simply share a quiet moment together.

Someone who will be by your side and will stand up for you no matter what! That’s what family is about! 🙂

Ah yes, couldn’t resist at least one picture with that rather nice watch. 😉

Well gals, it’s been a slice! Thanks…for being so totally awesome, especially in all that heat! 🙂 It was great to spend a couple hours with you!

I appreciate your friendship!

Feature: Anna’s Prom!

Ah…Prom. They are SO fun to shoot! (of course, it helps when you have photogenic people to shoot like I did! 😀 )

The hardest part?! Choosing which pictures to put into a post…because there are SO many beautiful pictures!

Anna’s Prom…We’ll start at the beginning of the evening when her escort, Mitch, came to pick her up (in a Jeep! yes! 😉 )

But before we leave, let’s take a better look at that gorgeous dress and some of the lovely details.

The dress of a lifetime…

Downtown, we met up with Anna’s friend, Jannice and her escort Jonas.

“Come on girls, let’s go! We can’t be late!”

On the way to meet the rest of the grads for the traditional prom “boardwalk”.  Every grad class in Kelowna does this. 🙂 While they were organizing all the other grads…we took the opportunity for a couple shots on the beach.

The traditional walk along the boardwalk… amidst 700+ grads (and their escorts!)

Thanks for letting be part of your special day, Anna! It was super fun! 😀 Congratulations on your grade 12 graduation!

P.s. Be sure and come back to my blog tomorrow…I’ll be announcing a special feature that will carry on through the month of June! 😀

Feature: Julia’s Prom

Meet Julia…

It wasn’t too far back when Julia contacted me about an idea she had to celebrate her graduation/prom.  When she explained it…I loved the concept immediately!

Her idea was simple.  She asked a few of her close friends to (dress nicely!) and join her on the day of her prom, to help her celebrate her graduation.  Part of these celebrations was a “best friends” photoshoot in downtown Kelowna. I was so excited to be a part of it!

As you can see…we had a blast! 😀

Isn’t Julia gorgeous? The best part is…she has a beautiful personality too! 🙂 I really enjoyed the opportunity to get to know Julia better. After chatting with her about her plans for the day… I knew it was going to be fun! And, I wasn’t disappointed! 😀

“Best friend” shoots are always so full of “girlyness” and piles laughter…I love it!

The special girls in Julia’s life…

Katherine and Diana!

They’re all really special girls…Julia, you’re so blessed to count them as your friends! (But, they’re also super lucky to have you too! 😉 )

Thanks girls, for sharing your friendship with me… and including me in the fun for the afternoon! I had a fantastic time with you all!

And so…till next time…

Feature: Friendship

Remember Jannice and Astrid?

They’re best friends…

It was absolutely fantastic shoot them! 🙂

True friendship is one of life’s greatest gifts.

The best part about being best friends with someone is that you can “just be you”.

The best of friends are the one with whom you can laugh the hardest.

It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

The pictures say more than my words can today.  I had so much fun on the photoshoot, watching Jannice and Astrid interact with each other, seeing how comfortable they are with one another. That is the best part of having a best friend I think!

Since there is nothing so well worth having as friends, never lose a chance to make them. ~Francesco Guicciardini

The friend is the man who knows all about you, and still likes you. ~Elbert Hubbard

“… no man is useless
while he has a friend.”
– Robert Louis Stevenson

“Good communication is as stimulating as black coffee, and just as hard to sleep after.”
-Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Hope you enjoyed this little taste of friendship! True friendship really is priceless!

Till tomorrow!

Portrait Feature: Astrid

You’d think that someone with a cool name like Astrid would be well, super cool… It’s (very!) true! 😀

When I think of Astrid I always smile 🙂 …maybe because the picture that comes to mind when I think of her there’s always a smile on her face.

Her perky personality and cheery disposition are contagious… I always find myself happier after a visit with Astrid (especially visits that include a Capachillo from Blendz) 🙂 I always enjoy any time I can spend with her, (and I’m stalking up because she’s only here visiting for a few months!) Yes…sometimes it feels like all my friends are leaving! 😦

Astrid is one of those people who is really good at accessorizing.  She has the gift of knowing what to add to an outfit and how much to add…she’s always tasteful in it.  I appreciate it (no one likes over accessorizing I think!) She always looks so “put together”…and you can see the European flair in her style. 🙂

When Astrid walks into a room…it’s like a ray of sunshine entered with her.

She’s just come back from working/traveling for 8 months in Europe (Germany mostly) and has plans to return! I won’t lie…I’m for sure going to miss her (lots!) But, I’m already excited in thinking that I’ll be able to visit her there (even if it takes a couple years) 🙂 …and if I do I already know it’s going to be an adventure!! 😀

Remember Jannice from last week? I actually shot Astrid on the same day, which means that it’s the same location; Father Pandosy Mission in Kelowna.

Thanks Astrid, for letting me take your pictures…it was fantastic!  Now I can always see you even when you’re far away.

Always, Aims

P.s. Featuring the Jannice + Astrid duo next Thursday…you won’t want to miss it!!!
