Somehow…since the last time I blogged; not only has Christmas pasted but also New Years, and all the fun, joy, love, celebrating and craziness and general chaos that surrounds them… it’s hard to believe we’ve passed the halfway mark through January! :-S
Anyways, just a little note to say that I’m back around (hopefully! 😉 ) and am super excited to be sharing some recent-ish photo sessions on here very soon!
So for today enjoy the adorable smile, the twinkling eyes, and sprays of freckles…I can’t help but smile when I see that face 😀
Earlier this week, I took one of my sisters with me to assist for a photo session. We were there a little early to scout out some locations for the photo session…she happily complied when I asked to to model for me. These are a couple of my favourite snapshots.
My six lovely sisters, my Mother, and I. 🙂 While Jane and I were in California a couple months ago, we brought back matching hats for all of the girls (ok, they didn’t have Lulu’s size so she didn’t get one!)
I thought this was a nice continuation and 2013 start-up for my “hat posts”.
With the summer heat, my little sisters decided to get their hair cut…and donate it. 🙂
I’m proud of them because I was going to do something similar last fall…and totally chickened out when we started measuring how much to cut off. (Guess I’m more sentimental about my hair than I thought!)
Munchkin donated 8 inches of her lovely blonde curls.
Rasco… (remember her adorable photoshoot?) she’s donating 15 inches of her beautiful red hair.
Yeah, a different type of personal post I know… (it’s not even about me!) 🙂 But I wanted to remember when they did this and chronicle it somewhere… what better place than my blog? 😉
Sometimes, life is about taking a moment…and enjoying it. 🙂 In this instance it was taking an extra moment to set up a tea party.
It’s about dressing up…
…and using real china…(a little mismatched though it may be…) 🙂
A bouquet of flowers from around our house.
It’s about pretty hats…
And German chocolate…and lace.
But the best part? Spending a little bit of quality time together…talking, visiting.
Smarties taste better when they come from a pretty dish, wouldn’t you agree?
I had fun setting this up for my little girlies…hearing their excitement as they choose their outfits and hats. The sound of their laughter and giggles and fake british accents during the party. They’re such special little kids, after I snapped the pictures I joined them…the memories are more precious than anything else I could’ve done with my time that morning.
Daily posts about England are more work than I first thought! (But SOOO fun! 🙂 ) Just means that “other” types of posts aren’t happening as often. But that’s okay…I’m having so SO much fun reliving and sharing England! Anyways, here are a couple more pictures of our uber cute kittens.
They’re changing so fast, I knew I needed to post before they change too much more! At the time I took these pictures, the kittens were 10 days old.
Meet my sister, Rasco*. I’m featuring her on my blog today for a few reasons!
First of all it’s her birthday today! So for her 11th birthday, I took her out for a little photoshoot.
Another reason was the dress…
Every little girl should have a dress as special as this, their very own “princess dress”. I remember mine… My Grandma sewed me a flower girl dress for my uncle’s wedding. It was black velvet with gold satin bows and I wore a crinoline with it so it would be “poofy” (especially when I twirled). This is Rasco’s princess dress, and I wanted to have some pictures of her in it before she grows out of it.
The story… Rasco was in town a few weeks before Christmas with our Mom when a copper coloured dress caught her eye. As it turns out the biggest size they had left was too small for her. A trip to Fabricland and some of my older sister’s hard work later… this dress is the result (and it’s so much more beautiful than the one in the store!) Rasco picked the colours of it to match her (gorgeous!!!) hair .
Our location today was a little road/pathway behind out house a ways. When I suggested the photoshoot to Rasco she specifically requested this spot.
I think we both thought it would be more green out there by now (other years the Saskatoon bushes are blooming already!) But it was still rather brown…so we made to with what we had. 🙂
We had fun on the shoot today (or, I did anyways 🙂 I hope she she did too haha!) She’s been a willing participant many times before… thanks for putting up with me again, Rasco. I always love seeing this precious red head through my lens, she’ll be back 😉
P.s. Yes, I always wished I had red hair…just sayin’.
*Rasco isn’t her real name…we’re not that weird ;-). I’ve decided to use nicknames etc. for my siblings (especially my younger ones) on my blog to help keep their lives private. J (It’s not their fault I have a blog 😛 ) (It’s pronounced with a British accent sounding something like this: Rossco)
