Daily Pics July 1-7

Here’s the first week of July via pictures.

July 1, which also happens to be Canada Day. My older sister and I enjoy frozen yogurt from Peachwave…Yummm! That stuff is amazing!

July 2, the eyelashes of my baby sister.

July 3, I picked some sour cherries (can’t wait to eat those in pie!)

July 4, the hands of one of the kids that I nanny as he practices piano.

July 5, enjoyed an epic breakfast…mornings like that don’t happen often enough!

Another one from this day; I was second photographer for a wedding and snapped this from the window of the cute little church waiting for the rehearsal to start.

July 6, since I was helping a photographer with a wedding…I took lots of pictures that day! BUT, won’t be posting any of the wedding ones quite yet 😉 However, here’s one of the little church where the ceremony happened…isn’t it adorable?!

July 7, Sunday, a day of rest. Had a little bit of rest out on the swing. A few quiet moments before a crazy week of work and VBS ahead.

This story behind the photograph…

Last night we were all sitting down to dinner and I looked over and saw Lulu crawling towards the door – immediately, I saw the above picture in my mind – exactly as you see it.  So I pulled my iPod out of my pocket and snapped it.

Sometimes our favourite pictures aren’t taken on an amazing camera. I love this picture because of the story it tells.  It’s the story of my baby sis – Lulu, barely a year old…discovering and exploring the world around her. It’s precious because in a few weeks she’ll be walking – she’s still in that crawl everywhere stage. Her whole life – the whole world out there – is ahead of her – waiting to be discovered.

And I captured one tiny moment of it.

Time is flying by – and the only time that “belongs” to us is this very moment – right now.  Everything else is either already past or in the future. (Think about that, eh!)

So be thankful for right now; use right now to its full potential.

Feature: Liebelt Family

So excited to feature the Liebelt Family on my blog today!

Especially little Leon…

(Hum yeah, I kind of fell in love with those eyes!)

…The day before our photoshoot Leon celebrated his FIRST birthday!

It’s hard to believe he’s a year already…He sure doesn’t look like the same newborn featured on my blog last year…Yeah, I did this cute little guy’s newborn pictures….wow time flies!

Then his mom brought out the bubbles…

Leon was a trooper, our photoshoot ran into his nap time, he did pretty good though – considering. 🙂  He’s also the first child that LOVED my camera….maybe because of the clicking sound? We had a hard time getting him to sit still and NOT crawl for the photographer… (I was flattered though 😉 )

We ended the session with a little cake smash… he was really tired by this time so the cake wasn’t that interesting to him… but it was fun 🙂  Maybe we can do another cake smash when he’s 10 or something – now THAT would be…crazy! 😉

And just one more to end today’s post. I seriously had a hard time choosing which pictures to blog…there were so many adorable ones!

I just love babies, and how ‘perfect’ they are…I can’t get over how something so small can be created so perfectly…ten little fingers…ten tiny toes.

Feature: Baby Naemi

 

Meet baby Naemi!!

 

I did her photoshoot a few weeks ago, before I left for my trip to Colorado. So I’m super excited to finally be able to share some of them with you today (a few more coming tomorrow 😉 )

 

The photoshoot was almost canceled because she had been grumpy in the morning before I got there, but I’m glad her Mom didn’t cancel – because Naemi did really well! 🙂 She was awake for the beginning but after a while got used to being in front of the camera (or got bored?) and nicely fell asleep for the end.

 

Ah, don’t you just want to smooch those little cheeks?!

Thanks for being a good sport Naemi! 😉 (not that you had a choice, but I do appreciate it!)

Of a little girl and sunshine

 

My trip to Colorado in April inspired me in many ways. One of those was in using my flash more in my photography.  So earlier this week, I decided to just get out there and play with it.  Thankfully Boo was willing to be my model. 😉

 

I enjoyed it 😉 Purposely, I chose to do it in the bright afternoon sun. Why? Because the conditions were NOT exactly ideal…and because they never are when we want them too.  I wanted to play with them in a less-than-ideal-situation partly because if  we always sit around waiting for the perfect picture taking situation to happen… we’d wouldn’t get many pictures taken!

(the book and pen were her choice – not mine! 😉 I was just glad she was letting me snap her picture 😉 ) Good chance to play with rim lighting.

 

 

I think this is my favourite picture of the afternoon. It’s something about her expression, I can’t explain it. Almost as if there’s a hint of the woman she’s going to grow up into.  One of those “catching a moment” pictures

P.s. Note to self: If you’re planning to play with your flashes…it might not be the best idea to a get a five year old who doesn’t usually sit still anyways…to be your model. 😉

Feature: Munchkin

Munchkin and I have talked about doing a photoshoot of her for a while, (actually a long while…!) we agreed we wanted to do a winter one…except we had a pretty mild winter around here. 😦  I knew I wanted at least snow covered trees…

It never happened that we had the right conditions + being in the same city on the same day.  The ONE perfect day in Jan. was the day I traveled to Alberta.  I’ll be honest…I had given up.

Well…guess what God gave us on MARCH 12…!? Yup! 😀 SNOW! So I took Munchkin for a walk! (Btw, She choose the location for the shoot.)

Who wouldn’t want to take shelter under a tree for a cup of hot chocolate…in a china tea cup?!

We’ve all done this at some point in our lives, eh? 😉

So that’s the story of why I’m posting a “snow-shoot” in March. 😀  By the time we got home most of it had melted (especially off the trees.)  Glad we took the opportunity when we did 🙂 Thanks for the snow, God!

Lulu (Look who is growing up!)

 

Yeah, I know it’s been awhile since you’ve seen a picture of Lulu, it’s hard to believe she’s already over 7 months old! 🙂 Guess it’s time I did a more “official” session of her again… but I haven’t, so this will have to do for today 😀

I could go on and on about how much she’s grown up, how she’s just learned to wave good bye, how I love the sound of her giggle… but maybe this is enough for today. 😉

Kid Portrait: Squishy

As promised, here’s today’s portrait feature! Perhaps I should explain the name… 😉 Of course, Squishy isn’t her real name, but a cute nickname… (hint: Finding Nemo.)  I think it’s adorable! ❤ Maybe because we call one of my younger sisters Boo…

We did this photo session last September, but it was right before my photo course and I bought a new computer and switched from LR 3 to LR4 etc, and I was busy and now it’s Feb. and I’m finally featuring the pictures here! 🙂 But maybe it’s better this way, a little taste of summer in the middle of winter, eh?

All in all, we had a fantastic time together! Great sunlight and a fantastic subject! She was about to start gr. 1, so Squishy is at the delightful age of learning and discovering new things for herself! She loves animals (obviously!) and isn’t afraid of bugs because she’s curious about them and what they do.

We had fun together, Squishy and I, the interaction level of a six year old is different from a one year or a baby, so I for one quite enjoyed it.  😉 It was my delight to capture a few moments, at the beginning of one of life’s journeys … with school just around the corner, so much unlearned and undiscovered, so many books unread…knowing there’s so much knowledge around the corner! And to be blessed to live in a country where education is encouraged 😀

*sigh* I could look at those sparkly eyes ALL day… 😉
