Feature: Amanda

So very VERY honoured and excited to feature one of the most beautiful people I know: my sister.

We both had Monday off because it was Family Day here in BC.  It was sprinkling snow but not super cold out… so we took advantage of the day and did a little photo shoot.

(It was graciousness on her part because I wanted to play with my new camera.)

I’ve blogged about her off and on over my time of blogging so feel like I’d be repeating myself if I sat down and started writing too much.  Maybe today, I’ll let pictures speak. My words wouldn’t do justice to who she is to me.  My best “girlfriend” – you know…that one with which you can laugh hysterically, the one whose thoughts you can almost read, who tells you how it is, listens, gives advice….but the best part? She’s also my sister.  😀 If you know this gal in real life, you’re the one who’s blessed!

Wedding: Rita and Dietrich

So so very excited to share a few moments of Rita and Dietrich’s wedding on my blog today!

These two are so in love, photographing them wasn’t really work but a privilege.  

You can just see so plainly how much they simply adore each other.

Truly, love is one of the most photogenic aspects of life.

What I saw that day wasn’t just “two people in love” but a man and woman unified in their love for Christ as well as their love for each other.  Everything about their day was centred around Christ and His love.

Of Beautiful Friends and Beautiful Light

Sometimes there’s perfect light when you’re not waiting or looking for it – suddenly it’s just there. This happened a few weeks ago…but the best part? Some of my lovely friends happened to be with me…

…so I grabbed the ones that were close by and snapped some head shots. It was great fun.

And I was reminded again of the gift of friends and friendship. Of laughter. Of moments…because perfect light doesn’t last, it’s gone soon after it appears, but true friendship will last as well as the memories we share together.

…October!?

 

Oh hey there! Can someone kindly tell me where September went? Thanks 🙂

Seriously, I can hardly believe I’m typing out October 1, 2013.  I was still kind of personally in that “summer2013” mode.  But that’s definitely passed. It’s back to hot drinks at cozy coffee shops, boots and scarfs and jackets…and really, fall is a lovely time of year…one of my favourites.

Just popped in here to say I’m alive and (very!) well and am excited to get back into blogging.  I’ve missed it.  Come back soon for updates, I have some great stuff to share with you (soonish!) 🙂

July 8-14

Here’s the second week of July as seen through my various electronics.

July 8

I took Rasco to assist me in a family photo session (look for that feature post on my blog soon!) and we celebrated with starbucks afterwards.

July 9

The busy day I took a moment to look up and saw the sun rays flowing off of the clouds.

We had VBS all last week at our church, made for a busy week – but it’s a fun kind of busy. With some of the kids who came.

The first day I didn’t take a picture.  A hard day, attended the funeral of a family friend.

A piece of my Grandma’s legendary pumpkin dessert.  If you’ve ever had the honour of eating a piece, you’ll know why it’s worth of a picture. If you haven’t had the honour – know you’re missing out – big time!

We celebrated Lulu’s first birthday at at park.

It was also the afternoon I “officially” tried an energy drink. It’s worth a picture – yes. (I shared it with my best friend. It was fun.)

And there we go. 🙂 Excited to see what this week will bring. I’m enjoying the challenge – because it’s teaching me to stop and enjoy a moment.  To stop and see a moment.

Wedding: Eugene and Sabina

I’d known Sabina a few years ago when we both attended the same youth group, so I was excited when she sent me a facebook message one day telling me she was engaged and inquiring about me photographing her wedding.

I met Eugene for the first time when we all met for coffee to talk wedding and photography.  I noticed right away how much he cared for her and what was important to her, and that he had her best interests in mind.

Their story is cute.  Sabina bought some speakers for her vehicle from Eugene’s brother.  However, she didn’t know how to instal them, so he suggested she go to his brother, Eugene, who is a mechanic, and have them installed… well, as you can see, that was only the beginning of their story. 😀

 

 

 

We were all so very thankful it didn’t rain! It rained the day before and then a little in the morning and during the ceremony, but for the pictures later it was dry and the sun even came out later!

Hum yeah, aren’t they a cute couple? Lots of laughter that day!

 

It’s always so hard to decide which pictures to blog – and to not overload a post with too much! But here are a couple more of the lovely bride!

Northern Lights

Blog title and picture are pretty self explanatory.  When my sister noticed the Northern Lights were out last night, I immediately went and grabbed my camera. I’ve only tried photographing them once before…so quite enjoyed doing it again!

Stylistic Portrait: MJ

 

Here’s a portrait of my friend, MJ.  He was my fellow intern in Colorado…and piles of fun! 🙂  It was really fun to hang out with him because our photographic styles are different (you should see what he can do with a flash…or two…or five!) …I so enjoyed his perspective and ideas.  Definitely came away from that week with new inspiration!

Oh yeah…he likes hats too – How cool is that, eh?!
