Feature: Luke & Piper

From these pictures you would never guess that Luke and Piper’s wedding day was rained out!

The downpour caused their original ceremony location to be changed last minute…which also included the need to find a new location for their formal pictures.

However, I couldn’t be more delighted with our “plan B” location and the fun we had.

I only have happy memories when I think of their wedding day! Luke and Piper, thanks for letting me be a part of your day!

Feature: Isaac & Amanda

It’s been a little while coming…but here’s a peek at Isaac and Amanda’s lovely wedding day! I was trying to decide what to write for this post and words just didn’t come and won’t do justice to what I want to say. ย My sister, my best friend, is married and now lives far away. It’s been fun editing these pictures because I always get to see her beautiful face!

I was honoured to not only photograph but also be a bridesmaid for this wedding… I’m very thankful for the help of Jess from Jess and Andy Photography for making that possible! So, I’ll leave the words now and let the pictures do the talking!

With their wedding being in March, we knew from the start that weather would be unpredictable (at best!) We were so blessed to be able to use the upstairs of one of our favourite coffee shops for our formal pictures…! The staff were so accommodating! ย The atmosphere was awesome!

Following are a few pictures from the ceremony, since I was a bridesmaid all ceremony photos are credited to Jessica Schlamp as well as the above picture.

Getting to photograph women on such an eventful day of their life is always an honour….but to be able to do that for my sister…the honour was that much more special!

A wedding blog post wouldn’t be complete without a few more icluding the bridesmaids and groomsmen…right? Photo credit of the bridal party: Jessica Schlamp

Feature: T-Kids 2014

Seriously, these kids just get more adorable every year (not that I’m biased! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Can’t get enough of these eyelashes eyes and that closed mouth grin!

Full of giggles and overflowing with spunkiness (I think I made that word up!) I get a kick out of this kid.

I could probably do a whole blog post just on her expressions and personality (maybe I will!)

Brotherly love (Can’t you just see the older-brother-pride in his eyes?)

That same closed mouth grin just melts my heart.

Look who’s all grown up?

I love how they love each other…. the love of a sister is such a special gift!

Till next time…

Feature: Wedding – Arienne and Jeff

Last June, I had the honour of photographing Arienne and Jeff’s rustic country wedding.ย  AimsPhotography_Wedding_Okanagan_Portrait.Photography-6

Arienne was an absolutely gorgeous bride. She was cool enough to wear cowboy boots and a jean jacket…and to have her horse join in some of the pictures.

It was a perfectly bright June morning…Arienne and Jeff were so easy.ย  They’re laid back and relaxed, we had such a great time.

Their love was so beautiful because it’s real, it’s genuine.

They were so fun…I just loved how much they loved each other.

Jeff is a wheat farmer so we couldn’t bypass the opportunity to use the endless rolling wheat fields as a back drop.

This was only a few weeks before my own wedding, and it was truly a blessing to be at Arienne and Jeff’s. They inspired me to enjoy every part of my own wedding. To take it easy and have fun!

Arienne and Jeff, it was a privilege to be part of your day.ย  I wish you only the best in the future!

Wedding: Eugene and Sabina

I’d known Sabina a few years ago when we both attended the same youth group, so I was excited when she sent me a facebook message one day telling me she was engaged and inquiring about me photographing her wedding.

I met Eugene for the first time when we all met for coffee to talk wedding and photography. ย I noticed right away how much he cared for her and what was important to her, and that he had her best interests in mind.

Their story is cute. ย Sabina bought some speakers for her vehicle from Eugene’s brother. ย However, she didn’t know how to instal them, so he suggested she go to his brother, Eugene, who is a mechanic, and have them installed… well, as you can see, that was only the beginning of their story. ๐Ÿ˜€

We were all so very thankful it didn’t rain! It rained the day before and then a little in the morning and during the ceremony, but for the pictures later it was dry and the sun even came out later!

Hum yeah, aren’t they a cute couple? Lots of laughter that day!

It’s always so hard to decide which pictures to blog – and to not overload a post with too much! But here are a couple more of the lovely bride!

Starting their journey, side by side – together.

Sabina and Eugene, I wholeheartedly wish you all the best as you start your life together! Thank you for allowing me to share in the joy of your day!

Leaves: A Photo Essay (of sorts)

Basically, everyday last week I posted a new “leaf” picture. ย For those who missed some of the posts… I’m just condensing all of last week into one today’s post (picturewise anyways.) ย Enjoy the different perspectives I found on leaves.

Hum, yes they do look lovely all in one post together. ๐Ÿ™‚

Portrait: Ivanna

Ivanna’s Portrait was another assignment. The assignment: plan out out the shot…the location, the lights you’ll use, the lighting style etc. Then we had two minutes to shoot it. Two minutes to set up, pose, and shoot. ย Couple of the shots I got.

Post Number 100?!

My 100th blog post…how cool it that?! ๐Ÿ™‚

(Where has the time gone?!)

It’s been just over five months since I started blogging consistently (and yes, I know the last couple weeks haven’t been that consistent. ๐Ÿ˜›ย ) Summer has been crazy with so many extra little things and parties and…everything!

However, looking back over the few months that I’ve been blogging…it’s been exciting; a learning experience – to be sure – but in a great one! ๐Ÿ™‚ I love looking at my stats page… to see which countries have viewed my blog (to date, 73 different countries have viewed this blog…that’s pretty amazing if you think about it!) adding up to over 13,000 blog visits with over 200 followers. Connecting with so many different people from so many different places would never have happened otherwise! When I log into WordPress it’s almost as if the whole world shrinks and is suddenly at my fingertips… (but that’s just one of the wonders of the internet in general, I guess.) But, it still amazes me – so there. ๐Ÿ˜›

So thanks, to my followers, to my family, and to my friends (those who comment and those who don’t ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) for all the support! Blogging would be boring without you all!

It’s been a fantastic journey so far, thanks for joining me during my first 100… I for one, am looking forward to the next 100! ๐Ÿ˜€

Always, Aims

P.s. I promised myself once, that I would never publish a blog post without (at least) one picture…however, my mind kept coming up blank trying to think of a picture to go with this post. (This also may or may not have to do with the fact that it’s Monday morning and I haven’t had coffee yet…) I just can’t even think of something that would be fitting. :-S

So, my 100th blog post is also my first picture-less post!

Feature: A Sister Session

Meet Mel and Mikey. ๐Ÿ™‚

I guess it’s kind of obvious, but they’re sisters. ๐Ÿ™‚ I was simply delighted when Mel asked me if I would do a “sister session” of them.

Our locations were the Japanese gardens in downtown Kelowna after which we walked down to City Park and finished up there. ย It was 30 degrees (86 degrees if you’re American ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) or more the entire time (also add in a little smoke from various forest fires to lock down that heat). It was definitely a hot one…But Mel and Mickey were awesome…like the whole time! ๐Ÿ˜€

We started around 6:30 which got us some great evening sunlight. ๐Ÿ™‚ Sister’s are downright fun, especially with these two! They both have a great sense of humour so getting them to smile was never a challenge.

I’ve known Mel for a long time. A long time fits in this case because…I’ve actually known her my entire life. I can’t say that about many people around my age. ๐Ÿ™‚ We’ve grown up attending the same church which means birthday invitations or even a couple camping trips also happened….and various shopping trips of course! ๐Ÿ˜‰

When we got a little older it meant helping organize youth banquets and various other “youth activities”. (note: I helped…Mel organized!) Mel is one of most reliable people I know, and she’s always been there (especially when I’ve needed something!) Always willing to help. To be there early. To answer questions. To serve others. Mel, thanks for everything…your friendship means a lot to me.

Mickey… well, obviously I haven’t known her as long as her sister because she’s younger! ๐Ÿ™‚ But, I remember her as an adorable toddler with thick dark brown curls. ย It’s been amazing to observe the beautiful young woman she’s grown into. Like her older sister, Mickey is loyal, especially to her friends. She cares about them and is thoughtful of others. Her laughter is contagious…and I always know where to go if I want a hug. ๐Ÿ™‚

As I’ve mentioned in other posts in my blog… having a sister is like having a live-in-best-friend. I believe it’s true for these gals as well.

I mean…who wouldn’t want someone to go shopping with…anytime?ย Or basically having another whole closet of clothes in the house?

Or having someone available to chat…all the time? Someone to laugh with or to simply share a quiet moment together.

Someone who will be by your side and will stand up for you no matter what! That’s what family is about! ๐Ÿ™‚

Ah yes, couldn’t resist at least one picture with that rather nice watch. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well gals, it’s been a slice! Thanks…for being so totally awesome, especially in all that heat! ๐Ÿ™‚ It was great to spend a couple hours with you!

I appreciate your friendship!
