Oh, hey 2014…?!

Kelowa_Photography_Portraiture_Children_AimsPhotography.photos

Somehow…since the last time I blogged; not only has Christmas pasted but also New Years, and all the fun, joy, love, celebrating and craziness and general chaos that surrounds them… it’s hard to believe we’ve passed the halfway mark through January! :-S

Anyways, just a little note to say that I’m back around (hopefully! 😉 ) and am super excited to be sharing some recent-ish photo sessions on here very soon!

So for today enjoy the adorable smile, the twinkling eyes, and sprays of freckles…I can’t help but smile when I see that face 😀

Feature: Kids Portraits

Kelowna_Photographer_Portraits_Children_Kid_AimsPhotography.photos-2

I had the absolute pleasure of doing some yearly pictures of these kids a couple weeks ago.

We got some really sweet evening light and the location was perfect! (And their Mom picked utterly adorable outfits!!)

I did their portraits last year and was amazed at how much each has changed and grown up…time sure flies!

All in all, we had a great evening and session! Can’t wait for next year’s portraits! 😉

Of Beautiful Friends and Beautiful Light

Kelowna_Photographer_Portraits_HeadShots_AimsPhotography.photos-2Sometimes there’s perfect light when you’re not waiting or looking for it – suddenly it’s just there. This happened a few weeks ago…but the best part? Some of my lovely friends happened to be with me… Kelowna_Photographer_Portraits_HeadShots_AimsPhotography.photos-7

“The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.” ~Audrey Hepburn

Kelowna_Photographer_Portraits_HeadShots_AimsPhotography.photos…so I grabbed the ones that were close by and snapped some head shots. It was great fun.

“I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls.” ~Audrey Hepburn

Kelowna_Photographer_Portraits_HeadShots_AimsPhotography.photos-4

And I was reminded again of the gift of friends and friendship. Of laughter. Of moments…because perfect light doesn’t last, it’s gone soon after it appears, but true friendship will last as well as the memories we share together.

Thanks for the moments and the new memories, girls!

July 8-14

IMG_0637

Here’s the second week of July as seen through my various electronics.

July 8

IMG_0572I took Rasco to assist me in a family photo session (look for that feature post on my blog soon!) and we celebrated with starbucks afterwards.

July 9

The busy day I took a moment to look up and saw the sun rays flowing off of the clouds.

IMG_0178

July 10

A honey bee enjoying some of my favourite blossoms – lavender.

IMG_0594

What I like to call a “drive by shooting”. Snapped this from the car on the way home. A lovely sunset over Kal lake.

IMG_0585

July 11

We had VBS all last week at our church, made for a busy week – but it’s a fun kind of busy. With some of the kids who came.

IMG_0600

July 12.

The first day I didn’t take a picture.  A hard day, attended the funeral of a family friend.

July 13

A piece of my Grandma’s legendary pumpkin dessert.  If you’ve ever had the honour of eating a piece, you’ll know why it’s worth of a picture. If you haven’t had the honour – know you’re missing out – big time!

IMG_0603

Beach. Water. Sunset. I love that I’m blessed live here.

IMG_0638

IMG_0636

July 14

We celebrated Lulu’s first birthday at at park.

IMG_0651

It was also the afternoon I “officially” tried an energy drink. It’s worth a picture – yes. (I shared it with my best friend. It was fun.)

IMG_0660

And there we go. 🙂 Excited to see what this week will bring. I’m enjoying the challenge – because it’s teaching me to stop and enjoy a moment.  To stop and see a moment.

Summer Sunlight

Kelowna_Photographer_Photography_Children_AimsPhotography.photos-3

Earlier this week, I took one of my sisters with me to assist for a photo session.  We were there a little early to scout out some locations for the photo session…she happily complied when I asked to to model for me.  These are a couple of my favourite snapshots.

Ah, the gloriousness of ‘early’ morning light.

Summer Days

IMG_0415

Summer is upon us – wow! Where has the time gone?!  To me, summer never feels “official” till July 1.  I was skimming through pictures on my iPod earlier today and had an idea.  I want to enjoy this summer – busy as it will be – and I want to remember it.  So for (at least!) July and August I want to take (at least!) one picture every day (be it on my phone, my iPod, or my DSLR.)  Yes, I know this idea isn’t new – people do the “picture a day” thing often.  But, I’ve never done it – and I just feel like this summer is going to slip by before I know it!  I’ll be uploading pictures to instagram and will do a weekly blog post of my daily pictures from the past week.

You see, I’ve come to realize that…I never regret taking pictures…capturing moments.  If I regret anything – it’s that I DIDN’T take more! So to start off here are a few random snap shots from the past couple of months – mostly taken on my ipod. Some made it onto instagram already – some didn’t 😉

First off, I’m kind of SUPER excited this guy is back! My brother, Mitch, was in the Philippines for almost 3 months.  He came home last weekend. 🙂

IMG_0486By the way…I LOVE the panorama feature on my iPod!!! Here’s a “perfect”rainbow I captured a few weeks ago (no filter) 😉IMG_0201My Oma (Grandma) baked my Dad her iconic Kaffee Torte for Father’s Day.  This is something very special and I wanted to remember it. IMG_0364My bro got his Barracuda on the road for the summer… Looking forward to some summer crusin’. IMG_0283Not to long ago I gave Lulu her first ride on a swing. IMG_0359

IMG_0362Speaking of Lulu, she just turned 1 year old! I can’t believe how fast time has gone!  Here’s a picture I took of her and I on her birthday last week.

A friend of ours was married last weekend here are a couple pictures from that day.  Another reason I love the panorama feature…I figured out how to get the same person into a panorama 3 times. See him?IMG_0432

IMG_0485And when there’s a gigantic arm chair…? You take a picture.IMG_0458

IMG_0392This was the sunset on Canada Day, July 1st, as we waited for the firework show.IMG_0472

And sometimes life is about seeing how many people you can squish into one picture!

Moments go by quickly… we really only have right now! 🙂 So here’s to having an amazing summer!

Wedding: Eugene and Sabina

Kelowna_Photographer_Wedding_AimsPhotography.photos-1-3

I’d known Sabina a few years ago when we both attended the same youth group, so I was excited when she sent me a facebook message one day telling me she was engaged and inquiring about me photographing her wedding.

Kelowna_Photographer_Wedding_AimsPhotography.photos-1-7

Kelowna_Photographer_Wedding_AimsPhotography.photos-2-2

I met Eugene for the first time when we all met for coffee to talk wedding and photography.  I noticed right away how much he cared for her and what was important to her, and that he had her best interests in mind.

Kelowna_Photographer_Wedding_AimsPhotography.photos-1-5

Their story is cute.  Sabina bought some speakers for her vehicle from Eugene’s brother.  However, she didn’t know how to instal them, so he suggested she go to his brother, Eugene, who is a mechanic, and have them installed… well, as you can see, that was only the beginning of their story. 😀

We were all so very thankful it didn’t rain! It rained the day before and then a little in the morning and during the ceremony, but for the pictures later it was dry and the sun even came out later!

Hum yeah, aren’t they a cute couple? Lots of laughter that day!

It’s always so hard to decide which pictures to blog – and to not overload a post with too much! But here are a couple more of the lovely bride!

The Big Dipper

Kelowna_Photographer_Nature_BigDipper_AimsPhotography.photos-2

I’m not usually a night photographer – in fact, I’d never even tried to take a picture of stars.  So, for my first try – I’m pretty happy! Actually – when I uploaded this picture to my computer – I was amazed – beyond amazed to see the night sky on my computer screen… amazed that I was able to (somewhat) capture a few seconds of the majesty of the night sky. It’s an emotion I wasn’t expecting…wow!

Feature: Liebelt Family

Kelowna_Photographer_Portrait_Family_Baby_CakeSmash_AimsPhotography.photos-2

So excited to feature the Liebelt Family on my blog today!

Kelowna_Photographer_Portrait_Family_Baby_CakeSmash_AimsPhotography.photos-1

Especially little Leon…

Kelowna_Photographer_Portrait_Family_Baby_CakeSmash_AimsPhotography.photos-4

(Hum yeah, I kind of fell in love with those eyes!)

Kelowna_Photographer_Portrait_Family_Baby_CakeSmash_AimsPhotography.photos-3

…The day before our photoshoot Leon celebrated his FIRST birthday!

Kelowna_Photographer_Portrait_Family_Baby_CakeSmash_AimsPhotography.photos-5

It’s hard to believe he’s a year already…He sure doesn’t look like the same newborn featured on my blog last year…Yeah, I did this cute little guy’s newborn pictures….wow time flies!

Leon was a trooper, our photoshoot ran into his nap time, he did pretty good though – considering. 🙂  He’s also the first child that LOVED my camera….maybe because of the clicking sound? We had a hard time getting him to sit still and NOT crawl for the photographer… (I was flattered though 😉 )

Kelowna_Photographer_Portrait_Family_Baby_CakeSmash_AimsPhotography.photos-13

We ended the session with a little cake smash… he was really tired by this time so the cake wasn’t that interesting to him… but it was fun 🙂  Maybe we can do another cake smash when he’s 10 or something – now THAT would be…crazy! 😉

Kelowna_Photographer_Portrait_Family_Baby_CakeSmash_AimsPhotography.photos-16

And just one more to end today’s post. I seriously had a hard time choosing which pictures to blog…there were so many adorable ones!

Here’s just a quick little continuation from yesterday.

I just love babies, and how ‘perfect’ they are…I can’t get over how something so small can be created so perfectly…ten little fingers…ten tiny toes.
