Is it dead?

ASP_AimsPhotography_2017-1

I’ve been asking myself lately (among the bazillion other things always swirling through my mind) if my blog is dead.

Yes.

And no.

I don’t know.

I guess I haven’t decided how or if I’ll try resurrecting it. I’ve considered many times deleting it and/or starting a new one.  I’ve tried and pressured myself many times to restart or keeping going from where I left off.  I’ve realized that that would be impossible because in the five years since I started blogging I’ve almost become a completely different person.  In five years not only have I gotten married, I’ve become a mother, and my hubby and I have build a house (well, almost…it isn’t finished yet haha.) Going through all of those life events changes you.  Part of me wishes I could have kept up with the blog for my own sake to be able to look back at the memories.

This blog is special though because it’s a little piece of my personal history that will always be there. The pictures and the memories tied to it are priceless especially as I see how much my family has changed as well and how my little siblings have grown up into beautiful teenagers.

I still love creating…and maybe this will grow into a new and different creative outlet.

The possibilities are endless…and maybe that’s the best part?

Germany: Tiny Village

AimsPhotography_Germany_Travel_Photographer_Art_Nature.photos-3Another peak at a piece of Germany, this time from higher perspective.

I love this picture the more I look at it (which doesn’t happen to me very often!) If I think about it and release my imagination… this picture becomes a story, the tiny village the setting. The story of a quaint village along the river and the unique people who live there. Or perhaps a quiet unsuspecting place for a hero to hide. Maybe the mansion is soaked in mystery, of hidden secrets and long forgotten passageways.

So take a moment and sit back; let your imagination go, allow the picture tell you a story of it’s own…the possibilities are endless!

Did the picture inspire you? I’d love to hear what your imagination came up with!

Feature: Wedding – Arienne and Jeff

Last June, I had the honour of photographing Arienne and Jeff’s rustic country wedding.  AimsPhotography_Wedding_Okanagan_Portrait.Photography-6

Arienne was an absolutely gorgeous bride. She was cool enough to wear cowboy boots and a jean jacket…and to have her horse join in some of the pictures.

It was a perfectly bright June morning…Arienne and Jeff were so easy.  They’re laid back and relaxed, we had such a great time.

Their love was so beautiful because it’s real, it’s genuine.

They were so fun…I just loved how much they loved each other.

Jeff is a wheat farmer so we couldn’t bypass the opportunity to use the endless rolling wheat fields as a back drop.

This was only a few weeks before my own wedding, and it was truly a blessing to be at Arienne and Jeff’s. They inspired me to enjoy every part of my own wedding. To take it easy and have fun!

Arienne and Jeff, it was a privilege to be part of your day.  I wish you only the best in the future!

Since Febuary

To sum up my life since February in a few sentences…

I went to Hawaii and fell in love with the ocean, the colours, the sounds, the mysteries.

photoI came home and got engaged a few days later.

I did some super awesome photo sessions including a beautiful wedding down in the States.

I planned.

I stressed (fact: every bride stresses at some point even if she doesn’t want to).

I learned.

I matured.

I (tried to!) enjoy it!

(As in most similar situations, there were parts of it I loved and parts of it I detested…but that’s typical.)

…and then I got married!

Looking forward to catching up on the last seven months…I have some awesome photo sessions to share! Come back soon!

Another iPhone snapshot from our spectacular ski day recently. Mountains are just so..incredible! So blessed to live here in Canada where I can enjoy them every day!

Come back Thursday when I’ll be featuring a recent portrait session here on my blog!

Look up!

Last weekend some of us hit the slopes up in Revelstoke, it was worth it for lots of reasons… One of which is that we got a day with some amazing scenery. (A piece of me wished I’d taken one of my “nice” cameras with…and the other piece is glad I didn’t because it’s hard to snowboard with a camera, especially because this season I’m rediscovering the sport of snowboarding).
This was taken on the last run of the day. As we came down the hill we had to board through a patch of fog…which had created this quiet winter wonderland. I was struck by the beauty of the snow clinging to the branches…a stark contrast to the bright sunlight up at the top.
Today is a reminder that there’s different types of beauty everywhere – we just have to stop for a moment to see it.

Kelowna_Photographer_Portraits_Wedding_AimsPhotography.photos-9What I saw that day wasn’t just “two people in love” but a man and woman unified in their love for Christ as well as their love for each other.  Everything about their day was centred around Christ and His love. Kelowna_Photographer_Portraits_Wedding_AimsPhotography.photos-6Kelowna_Photographer_Portraits_Wedding_AimsPhotography.photos-7

Wildflowers

Kelowna_Photographer_Nature_AimsPhotography.photos-3

Wildflowers and hills that keep going on and on. Isn’t it lovely?

This is taken at Silver Star Ski Resort just out of Vernon, B.C. Canada.  In the winter this is a ski hill. 🙂 I’d never been up there in the summer and was awed by the beauty…yup, I’m pretty blessed to live here in Canada.
